What if Moving House Could be Made Even Easier?

We all know what a strain moving house can be. In fact, if I had a penny for every-time I’ve heard someone say it’s one of the most stressful things you can do in your life, I would be a rich woman (but still blogging though, no doubt)!

It’s not just the labour intensive jobs you have to do like packing up your things, helping to load them on a van, unloading them, and then (as if you hadn’t had enough) unpack them at the other end, it’s all the other jobs you have to remember.

Moving house isn’t just about moving your belongings, it’s about moving your life and it doesn’t matter if you’re going a few miles down the road or you’re off to sunnier climes. You need to remember to tell your bank, your satellite and internet provider what your new address is. You even have to remember to let the utility companies you use know you won’t be responsible for the bills anymore, and this is just the tip of the iceberg.

I was thinking the other day about how many times I’ve done this. I know I’m an exception to the rule in fact, I’m known as the “nomad” among family and friends. However, just because I’ve moved about more than the average person, it doesn’t make it any easier.

This is where an idea formed in my head. What if you could employ someone to do all the hard work for you? It would be a bit like a wedding planner only a moving planner instead. The first thing that might come to mind is how much this would cost and of course, you would have to be selective about the things you tell someone who did this for you. For example, letting them take on the task of changing the address with your bank could bring about a few security issues so, I know not everything could be done for you.

But, imagine this. You call up a professional “moving” planner. Tell them where you’re moving from and to and let them do pretty much the rest for you. They could organise your removal company, make sure you have running water, electric and gas ready when you arrive at your new home. They could even organise for someone to come and pack for you.

Think about how much easier your move would be? I’m sure I haven’t thought this through and it’s just a pipe dream because I don’t know of any company that offers a service like this. Surely, if it were that easy to set-up someone would have done it by now?
