Would you use a dentist for the first time without making sure they were properly qualified? Indeed, would you use an electrician or plumber that couldn’t prove what credentials they have? The answer is more than likely going to be an emphatic no! So why should it be any different when you’re on the hunt for a removal company? It shouldn’t, but many people forget what it is they need to look for, or have no idea where to start and that’s where I aim to help.
Service, Reliability and Price
These are the three things you should keep at the forefront of your mind when you’re looking for a company to help you move. If you’ve never done anything like this before, start by asking your friends and relatives. They may know of someone they’ve used in the past that did a good job.
If that doesn’t help, you could look in your local business directory, but that’s time consuming and ads in a directory really don’t tell you very much. This means you will have to find our simple details like how long they have been in business, how large they are and will they be able to move you to your chosen destination on your own.
The internet of course, is a great starting point and if you put the words “removal company” into your search engine, you will be met with a myriad of results. Company websites are a great way to find out about pricing, and many of them have testimonial sections where you can read what others have to say.
A word of warning on testimonials: Make sure you can follow-up on any that interest you, and if you come across a negative take it seriously. After all, you’re going to be handing your precious belongings over to a team of people you have never met before. Your other option is to use an online auction site. These come in many different forms from those that deal mainly with courier type companies to those that deal with companies that only help with house or office moves.
The beauty of joining a site like this is most of the hard work is done for you. Any reputable website offering a service like this will do background checks, make sure there is nothing negative to be said and that the company is who they say they are. In fact if you choose the right one, you can even contact the customer service department to get more information on a company that’s quoted on your requirements.
Make sure you don’t start this search too late. If you do, you’ll be more concerned about meeting your moving dates than you will about the service you get.
