When you’re moving home, especially abroad, thoughts of protecting yourself seems to fall by the wayside. Of course, it’s important you make sure your belongings are going to be well looked after whilst they’re in transit. The last thing any of us wants is to arrive at our new home, start to unpack, find breakages, and have nowhere to turn in terms of insurance.
This is why it’s so important you make sure your chosen removal company is properly insured. This can be a bit of a grey area, so ask the question before you sign a contract. However, I digress. Today, I want to spell out how important it is you don’t forget about you!
When people think of travel insurance, they think about holidays, but it’s actually important no matter what your reason is for being on the move. For example, if you’re moving from the UK to a country in Europe, it could mean you using all manner of travel options.
If you’re taking a car, you will need to drive on the roads in the UK, take a ferry or train, and drive on the roads in Europe. This means making sure you’re covered for any eventuality. A high percentage of people make trips like this every-day without an issue, but if there is, and you’re not covered, it could mean all sorts of problems for you.
Sure, in the UK you’ll be covered by the NHS, but after that, you will need some form of private cover. I’m not saying you’re going to get on a ferry, and “keel” over, but if you fall ill for some reason, the last thing you, or a member of your family needs to worry about is if they can pay for any treatment you might need.
So, when you’re moving abroad MAKE SURE you not only insure your belongings but you and your family as well!
