European Removals Blog

Welcome to our blog. We bring you the latest transportation industry news and stories of interest.

I’m Sorry Did Someone Say It Was the Season of Good Will to All Men?

OK, are you ready folks? I’m about to go off on one of my little rants again. I often speak with the couple that are behind our website, and they like what I write on our blog section (at least that’s what they tell me). The one thing they do always say however, is to keep the blogs I write as closely related to transport as I can, which is understandable really, given the service we offer.

However, I have been searching the newspapers today to find something cheerful to write about. After all, we’re not that far away from the Christmas break are we? You know what? I couldn’t find one thing that would bring anything in the way of “good cheer" to anyone.

I know the media don’t make the news, they just report it, but does it all have to be so much doom and gloom. Can’t they just throw a funny story in here and there to cheer us up? I’ve come across headlines like “Scotrail Staff to Strike on Christmas Eve”, and “Gas Line Blast Torches Homes in West Virginia”.

For a start, any Union that decides to strike on Christmas Eve is abhorrent to me, they’re not really hurting anyone other than those that are attempting to move from one place to another so they can be with their loved ones on Christmas Day. As for the terrible blast that occurred in West Virginia, my heart goes out to all the people that were affected, and I know we should all be made aware of tragedies like this so we can avoid it in the future.

However, as I went down the page, there was just more bad news, and I just couldn’t bring myself to go into more depth, or pass on the information I’d found. We’ve all had a tough year, and in my opinion, it’s time for a little light relief.  How about reporting on kids being in a snowman building competition instead of telling us how many people suffered burst water pipes, or were snowed in.

C’mon you media Gurus, we need something to make us smile as well!
